Thanksgiving Recipes from Me 2 You

Many things endear me to Thanksgiving. Gathering with friends and family, food, being thankful, and trying to focus on all these things while relaxing into a long meal filled with stories and laughter. I try to make the day relaxing by cooking beautiful but simple foods that can be prepared, at some level, in advance. So, I am going back in the archives to suggest a number of recipes that will bring flavor to your Thanksgiving table.

Start off with my favorite appetizer, Chanterelles in Sherry Cream Sauce on Toast, and a colorful Alaska Bush Pilot cocktail. Try twists on old favorites, like Mashed Celeriac rather than the same old mashed potatoes. Or, for a festive and beautiful option for potatoes, try my Hasselback Rutabaga. Surprise people with Brussel sprouts prepared as a bright salad-Brussel Sprouts Salad with Lemon Dressing. I always like to serve a gratin of some sort and know that people adore my Cauliflower Gratin. For dessert, I would stick with the old standards—pumpkin and apple pie—and finish things off with a bit of the brown, and a toast for clean living.

Happy Thanksgiving!
